Janesville Transit System (JTS) passengers and residents are advised of upcoming changes and adjustments as the reconstruction work on N. Pontiac Drive and Morse Street progresses. The City of Janesville has announced that the next phase of reconstruction, covering the area from Ryan Road to Humes Road / USH 14, will commence on Wednesday, April 24, with an expected completion date of around June 14.

During this period, all businesses within the road closure area will remain operational, and local traffic heading to destinations within the work zone will be accommodated. However, other motorists are urged to seek alternative routes to avoid the construction area, as the affected portion of the roadway will be impassable.

According to city officials, contractors will be engaged in extensive work, including the removal of existing pavement, aggregate base, curb & gutter, and driveway approaches. This activity is part of the City's annual street rehabilitation program aimed at enhancing the local infrastructure.

As a result of the ongoing construction, adjustments will be made to several JTS routes. The 1: Milton Ave Route & 7: Nightside Milton Ave. will temporarily bypass the Morse/Ryan/Pontiac loop, while the 5: Milwaukee St. route will divert from N. Pontiac Drive and utilize Humes Road to return to its regular path at Milton Avenue.

Individuals needing to access businesses at the N. Pontiac and Humes Road intersection are advised to utilize the temporary bus stop located at the northwest corner of the intersection. Additionally, passengers with visual impairments are encouraged to contact JTS at (608) 755-3150 for assistance in reaching the Van Galder depot.

To accommodate the changes, four bus stops along these routes will be closed temporarily, including stops at Van Galder, #164 & #307; bus stop #163 at Morse/Ryan; and #306 on Morse.

For any inquiries or further information regarding the reconstruction and its impact on JTS routes, individuals are urged to contact JTS at (608) 755-3150.
