Bryan Steil, U.S. Congressman representing Wisconsin’s 1st district since 2019, posted a series of messages on April 16, 2026, highlighting his legislative efforts and stance on foreign influence in elections.
In one post, Steil stated: “I’m working to protect your retirement savings and prevent your hard-earned money from being used for a political agenda. The Protecting Americans’ Retirement Savings from Politics Act will rein in the proxy advisor duopoly and protect your retirement.” (April 16, 2026). Later that day, Steil commented on the role of foreign money in American elections by posting: “Foreign funds have no place in our elections! @POTUS” (April 16, 2026).
Steil has been active in Congress since succeeding Paul Ryan in 2019 and has won multiple re-election campaigns. In the most recent general election of 2024, he defeated Peter Barca with approximately 54% of the vote. His previous victories include wins over Ann Roe in 2022, Roger Polack in 2020, and Randy Bryce in 2018.
