Bryan Steil, U.S. Congressman representing Wisconsin’s 1st district since 2019 and chair of a congressional committee, addressed recent concerns about voter registration and noncitizen voting in Minnesota through a series of social media posts on April 16, 2026.
On that day, Steil referenced a recent incident involving voter fraud in Minnesota, stating: “3 days ago a noncitizen was charged with illegaly voting in MN. Today, I’ll have the MN Secretary of State in front of my committee to answer our questions.” [April 16, 2026]. He encouraged his followers to watch the proceedings by posting: “Tune in https://t.co/QbiN8K99Fq” [April 16, 2026].
Later the same day, Steil shared information disclosed during the committee session: ” Minnesota’s Secretary of State just CONFIRMED that any registered voter can VOUCH for EIGHT individuals to register and vote SAME DAY Anyone @ the ‘Quality Learing Center’ looking to vote in November?” [April 16, 2026].
Bryan Steil has served as Wisconsin’s representative in Congress since succeeding Paul Ryan in 2019. He has consistently won re-election over multiple cycles—defeating Peter Barca in 2024 (54% to 43.8%), Ann Roe in 2022 (54.1% to 45.1%), Roger Polack in 2020 (59.3% to 40.6%), and Randy Bryce in 2018 (54.6% to 42.3%)—demonstrating sustained support within his district.
Minnesota law allows for same-day voter registration with vouching by already-registered voters; this process became a focus after reports of noncitizen voting emerged.
