CITY OF JANESVILLE issued the following announcement.

Virtual Community Engagement Forum for the E. Milwaukee St. Reconstruction

Date:09/17/2020 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm 

The City of Janesville is in the process of developing plans for the proposed reconstruction of East Milwaukee Street between Main Street and Atwood Avenue.  The proposed project will consist of new pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, water main, street lighting, and various streetscaping elements.   Construction is currently scheduled to begin in the spring of 2024.

A Virtual online Community Engagement Forum for the project will be held on Thursday, September 17th from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM.  Please use the link below to register for the meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

A short presentation, which includes a basic overview of project concepts, will begin at 5:05 PM. Representatives from the City of Janesville and project design staff will be available after the presentation to answer questions, and provide additional information regarding the project. All community members are welcome and encouraged to sign in to the online meeting. This meeting will be recorded. If unable to join the meeting online, an audio-only phone number for the meeting can be provided. Please contact Matt McGrath at the City Engineering Division, 608-755-3165, for more information. 

The City invites you to learn more about this important project and welcomes your input, suggestions, and comments using the project’s Social Pinpoint Webpage.    The Social Pinpoint Webpage is currently being developed and is expected to be accessible beginning on Thursday, September 10, 2020.  Please visit www.ci.janesville.wi.us/EMilwaukeeSt on or after September 10 for a link to the Social Pinpoint Webpage. The City will collect comments through Friday, October 2. 

There a number of Historic Districts that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and potentially historic buildings that are within or adjacent to the project limits. Impacts are not anticipated to these properties, but small areas of new right of way or temporary easements may be needed to accommodate grading and the construction of ADA compliant curb ramps. The project team is seeking your input on any concerns that individuals may have on how the project is impacting the properties or district. Persons with a concern for, or knowledge about historic buildings and structures and archaeological sites are encouraged to provide comments.
