Notification of Sanitary Sewer Overflow

Sewage

City of Milton issued the following announcement on March 28.

On Monday, March 28, 2022, at approximately 9:15 a.m., a sanitary sewer line backup started due to the draining of the swimming pool at Milton High School. The backup resulted in untreated sewerage coming from the manhole on Hilltop Drive and overflowing into the municipal ditch.  City crews were notified of the situation at 9:26 a.m. and the discharge was stopped in less than 30 minutes. It is estimated that 1,000 gallons were released into the ditch.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was notified of the Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) immediately.  Risks to the public were deemed low.  The situation continues to be monitored and signs have been placed in the contaminated area to notify the public. The road has been sanitized and all debris has been removed.
