The City of Janesville has hired a contractor to paint approximately 260 fire hydrants in the community. This process will include the removal of the old paint using a technique similar to sandblasting. The contractor will clean the fire hydrants down to the metal, then prime and repaint them with a fresh coat of yellow paint.
Painting work began on Monday, June 12 and will be completed in approximately two weeks. Locations of focus during the painting will be on streets that the City resurfaced last year and surrounding areas as needed.
