The City of Janesville and the Rock County HOME Consortium are pleased to announce the availability of applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership (HOME) Programs Public Service projects.
As amended, the funds are authorized under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City of Janesville administers these funds. The funds may be used for various activities which principally benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
The overall goals of the CDBG program are to provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities. The objectives of the HOME Program are to buy, build, or rehabilitate affordable housing for rent or homeownership or to provide direct homebuyer assistance to low to moderate-income individuals. Projects funded with CDBG grants must also serve low to moderate-income individuals, eliminate blight or address an urgent community need (i.e., disaster).
An information packet describing the grant and application materials is available on the City’s website. Interested agencies can submit completed applications, requested attachments, and other supplemental information to support the application electronically in PDF format. Applications must be received no later than Friday, August 4, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. Agencies applying must make a mandatory presentation at the Community Development Authority (CDA) Meeting on August 16, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.
