The Janesville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (JAMPO) has announced that it will be holding two important public meetings in the coming weeks. The meetings, which will be conducted in a hybrid format, will provide an opportunity for community members to participate and contribute to the planning and development of the city.

The first meeting, scheduled for February 5 at 1:30 p.m., will be the JAMPO Technical Advisory Committee meeting. This committee will review and act on amendments to the Janesville Area MPO 2024-2029 Transportation Improvement Program. It is crucial for the city's transportation infrastructure to be regularly assessed and updated in order to meet the needs of the growing population.

The second meeting, taking place on February 12 at 5:00 p.m., will be the JAMPO Policy Board meeting. During this meeting, the board members will review and act on updates to the JAMPO Urbanized Area Boundary and Planning Area Boundary. These boundaries help define the areas of focus for the organization and guide future planning efforts.

In order to ensure that the public has an opportunity to provide input, JAMPO is accepting comments until Monday, February 5th at 10 a.m. Comments can be submitted through the Janesville Area MPO Comment Form available at the provided link.

For those who wish to review the documents being presented to the Policy Board, they will be available for review 14 days prior to the meeting date. Interested individuals can visit the Public Works Department at 18 North Jackson Street, Janesville, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additionally, the documents will be accessible on the City of Janesville webpage at the provided link.

Considering the ongoing pandemic and the need for social distancing, the meetings will include a virtual option for attendees. To access the meeting virtually, participants can reach out to David Salmon, MPO Coordinator, at the provided contact information.

These public meetings organized by the Janesville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization play a vital role in ensuring that the community's voice is heard and considered in the city's planning and development efforts. It is an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to actively contribute to the future of Janesville.
