Beginning Monday, March 25, contractors will perform utility improvements, replace curbs & gutters, and reconstruct the pavement on N. Pontiac Drive and Morse Street. The closure of these streets to through traffic was announced by the City of Janesville Engineering Division, who can be reached at (608) 755-3169 for any inquiries related to the project.
The reconstruction will affect the Janesville Transit System (JTS) routes in the area. According to the announcement, the 1: Milton Ave Route & 7: Nightside Milton Ave. will temporarily bypass the Morse/Ryan/Pontiac loop. They will use N. Lexington Dr. to access bus stop #162 at the Festival Foods passenger shelter, and then use Humes Rd to resume regular routing. Similarly, the 5: Milwaukee St. route will bypass N. Pontiac Drive and use Humes Road to return to the regular route at Milton Avenue.
Individuals with visual impairments are advised to contact JTS at (608) 755-3150 if they need assistance in accessing the Van Galder depot during this period of detours. Additionally, four bus stops along these routes will be closed, including stops at Van Galder, #164 & #307; bus stop #163 at Morse/Ryan; and #306 on Morse.
Residents are encouraged to contact JTS at (608) 755-3150 for any questions or concerns regarding the closures and route detours.
