Beginning Monday, April 15, the City of Janesville will close Morse Street and Ryan Road for utility improvements and restoration work. The closure will affect local access and JTS bus routes in the area.
According to the City of Janesville Engineering Division, questions regarding the closure or the work can be directed to them at (608) 755-3169.
During the construction period, Morse Street from Milton Road to Ryan Road and Ryan Road from Morse Street to 325’ north of Morse Street will be closed to through traffic. The roads are expected to remain closed for approximately ten (10) days. Local access to driveways within the closure will generally be maintained.
In addition to the road closure, the construction will impact JTS bus routes. The 1: Milton Ave Route & 7: Nightside Milton Ave. will temporarily bypass the Morse/Ryan/Pontiac loop. The route adjustment will include using N. Lexington Dr. to access bus stop #162 at the Festival Foods passenger shelter, and then using Humes Rd to resume the regular routing.
The 5: Milwaukee St. route will also be affected, bypassing N. Pontiac Drive and using Humes Road to resume the regular route at Milton Avenue. Individuals needing to access businesses at the intersection of N. Pontiac and Humes Road are advised to use the temporary bus stop at the northwest corner of the intersection.
JTS has provided specific instructions for riders with visual impairments, stating that they should call JTS at (608) 755-3150 if they require assistance in accessing the Van Galder depot.
Four bus stops on these routes will be closed during the construction period: Van Galder, #164 & #307, #163 at Morse/Ryan, and #306 on Morse.
For any further questions or concerns related to the closure, JTS has urged individuals to contact them at (608) 755-3150.
