The City of Janesville is gearing up to host a Community Engagement Forum (CEF) on April 23 for the proposed Palmer Aquatics Facility project, which aims to replace the aging wading pool. The forum, scheduled to take place at the Hedberg Public Library, will provide an opportunity for community members to learn more about the project and share their feedback.

According to a 2021 Aquatics facility evaluation, the Palmer Wading Pool has reached the end of its useful life, prompting the need for a new facility. The City is collaborating with Parkitecture + Planning to finalize the design for the Palmer Aquatics facility. A dedicated Palmer Aquatics Design Work Team, comprising representatives from various city departments and committees, has been established to contribute to the project.

"The proposed Palmer Park pool renovation includes a single vessel design with zero-depth entry, aquatic play features, limited lap lanes, and other amenities," stated project officials. The new facility is expected to offer a unique aquatic experience that complements other existing facilities in the community, such as the Rockport 50M pool and Riverside Park Splash Pad.

The chosen location for the Palmer Aquatics Facility, west of S. Harmony Drive in Palmer Park, has been strategically selected to maximize benefits. This site offers advantages like proximity to other park amenities, absence of flood hazard areas, and the potential to enhance programming and event spaces within the park.

All community members are encouraged to attend the forum and engage with project displays and representatives to gain a better understanding of the proposed project. "The forum will allow interested community members to learn more about the project and provide feedback and opinions," emphasized officials.
