Street resurfacing operations are set to commence on May 13 and continue through May 20 on several streets, including Gershwin Drive, Peach Tree Street, Bond Place, Winesap Court, Winesap Drive, Jonathan Drive, Red Apple Drive, and Crabapple Lane. Motorists are advised to reduce their speed when traversing work zones and consider alternate routes where possible. Further details regarding these projects can be obtained from the Engineering Division at (608) 755-3162.

During the resurfacing process, streets will display 'NO PARKING' signs from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Residents who typically park overnight on the street are advised to relocate their vehicles early in the morning.

The initial phase of resurfacing involves milling or grinding off the old street surface. Traffic will be permitted during and after this process; however, minor delays should be anticipated as equipment removes the surface layer from the pavement.

Following the removal of the upper pavement layer is asphalt paving. Prior to this stage, "FRESH OIL," a sticky liquid tack coat designed to bond new pavement with old pavement, is applied to the surface. Traffic is discouraged from driving over this substance due to its potential for tracking onto vehicles and other surfaces. Should it be necessary to drive over "FRESH OIL," motorists are urged to proceed slowly.

Paving operations may restrict driveway access while work is ongoing at specific locations. Residents concerned about property access during paving operations should consider parking their vehicles on streets outside of the project area. Each street's paving process is expected to be completed within one day or less and will be drivable by evening. However, it should be noted that paving is weather-dependent and may be postponed in case of rain.

The street resurfacing will also impact JTS Route 4: W. Court Waveland Loop between May 13 and 17, 2024. The route will detour via Bond Pl., Sunset Dr., Westwood Dr., and Waveland Rd. For more information, please contact JTS at (608) 755-3150.
