The Hedberg Public Library will launch the "Adventure Begins At Your Library" summer library challenge on Monday, June 10. This program, available to all age groups, aims to encourage reading and activities through a system of rewards including prizes and a free book. Registration for the challenge is open from June 10 to August 2 at the library or via their website.
Participants can collect a lanyard and their first HPL button or sticker at various locations including the library’s Summer Desk, HPL Express in Uptown Janesville, or on the HPL Bookmobile. By reading or engaging in designated activities, participants can earn badges and weekly prizes.
The library has set an ambitious goal for this summer: logging 700,000 minutes of reading by August 2. Should this target be met, a special celebration will be held on Monday, August 5, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Additionally, the library invites participants to join the “Share Your Adventures” activity. Participants are encouraged to draw an adventure—whether inspired by a book or personal experience—and submit it to be displayed on the library's wall of adventures.
To promote this initiative, staff from the Children’s Room will visit public and private elementary schools throughout May. They aim to engage students and staff in Janesville with information about the summer library challenge.
