The City of Janesville is initiating the development of a new Strategic Plan aimed at setting priorities, focusing efforts, and establishing goals to guide policy, program, and process decisions. To facilitate this effort, the City has partnered with BerryDunn, a firm recognized for its innovative strategies.
BerryDunn's involvement aims to incorporate input from Janesville's diverse population into a vision that aligns with residents' aspirations and priorities. A dedicated Social Pinpoint platform has been launched to ensure community participation. This platform offers information on the strategic planning process and features interactive tools such as an online survey, ideas walls, and a discussion board.
"Your thoughtful responses are crucial in determining the priorities that will guide Janesville's actions for the next several years," stated City Manager Kevin Lahner. He assured residents that their feedback would remain confidential as BerryDunn aggregates all input while respecting privacy.
In addition to the online platform, community forums are scheduled as part of the strategic planning process:
- Wednesday, July 17, 6 p.m. – Riverside Park – South Pavilion
- Thursday, July 18, 2 p.m. – Hedberg Public Library – Program Room
- Thursday, July 18, 6 p.m. – City Hall – Council Chambers
Residents can also utilize a "meeting-in-a-box" method for structured discussions at convenient times and locations. Materials for these meetings are available on Social Pinpoint and at City Hall.
The City encourages all residents to participate in shaping their community's future through this strategic plan which will address topics such as economic development, infrastructure, and community services.
