On Tuesday, June 11, the City of Janesville hosted local high school students as part of the Tim Cullen Government Internship Program. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the program, which was endowed by former State Senator Tim Cullen to provide students with experience in local and state government.
During their visit to Janesville, the Cullen Interns toured City Hall, the Police Department, Fire Department, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Transit Center, and City Parks. They also met with city staff to discuss the roles and functions of various departments. The students were well-prepared and engaged city officials with thoughtful questions and dialogue.
The young scholars were recognized for their participation in the program on Monday, June 10, at a City Council Meeting. City staff expressed pride in offering this educational forum and emphasized its value in sharing insights with future community leaders.
