City coordinates donation efforts following tornado in Janesville

On the evening of Saturday, June 22, a reported tornado touched down on the south side of the City of Janesville. This weather event caused considerable damage to structures and infrastructure. The City has activated its Emergency Operations Center to mobilize additional resources.

As part of this response, the City is coordinating the reception of donations for those impacted. Individuals and organizations interested in making financial donations may drop off cash or checks at ECHO, Inc. at 65 South High Street during regular business hours. Checks should include the memo line "Janesville Storm Damage."

Donations of new, unused items will be accepted at the Salvation Army of Rock County at 514 Sutherland Avenue. Accepted items include:

- Bottled Water

- Nonperishable Food Items

- Totes

- Gloves

- Ziplock bags

- Sharpies

- Heavy duty tarps

- Diapers

- Wipes

- Formula

- Flashlights

- Contractor bags

- First aid kits

- Shovels

- Rakes

- Toilet paper

- Paper towels
