On the evening of Saturday, June 22, an EF-2 tornado touched down on the south side of Janesville, causing significant damage to structures and infrastructure.

The Salvation Army of Rock County has closed its overnight shelter but continues to accept donations of new, unused items. Residents needing material assistance can visit 514 Sutherland Avenue to receive totes of food and supplies. The Salvation Army has an ongoing need for non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and cereal. Donations can be dropped off at their facility.

The City of Janesville appreciates the community's continued support. The City will host a coordinated volunteer location for storm cleanup efforts at the old Rock County Jobs Center at 1900 Center Avenue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, June 28. Residents needing assistance with property cleanup may visit this facility to find volunteers willing to help.
