FOIA Request to Town of Union Regarding Voter Registration Records on November 7, 2024. The Southern Wisconsin Times has officially requested a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
In a formal request sent under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., we asked for the information to be provided in an electronic format. As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to such public records is crucial for our reporting.
We believe that access to this information will allow us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
The Southern Wisconsin Times remains committed to its mission of keeping the public informed about important issues in their community. We await the response from the Town of Union and will continue our efforts to provide comprehensive coverage of local government affairs.
