FOIA Request to Town of Albany Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 5, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Southern Wisconsin Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Albany in Wisconsin. The request was made on November 7, 2024, under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
We are seeking access to a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. This information is vital for us as we continue our work in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe that access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We have also requested a fee waiver for this information as part of our role as media professionals.
