City Of Janesville issued the following announcement on March 24.
There are many beautiful sites to see as spring begins in Janesville. However, as the snow melts, it’s also the time a particular eyesore becomes apparent, litter. Littered trash is not only a blemish on our City’s natural beauty but threatens our community’s wildlife and ecosystems. While the issue of littering is not unique to Janesville, as Wisconsin’s Park Place, our community is uniquely motivated to make a difference.
The City is now asking the community to once again participate in the Park Place Pick Up. First introduced in 2019, the goal of this initiative is simple. When enjoying Janesville’s parks, trails, and other amenities and attractions, please take a moment to notice and remove trash and throw it away in an appropriate receptacle. The City encourages community members to partake safely by wearing gloves, dressing in bright-colored clothing, and refraining from attempting to collect potentially dangerous materials (i.e., sharp objects, needles, hazardous waste, etc.).
While individually we cannot collect every piece of litter, together, our actions can make a significant impact in helping protect our community’s wildlife and ecosystems.
Residents are encouraged to submit pictures of themselves participating in the initiative to cojmedia@ci.janesville.wi.us. The City will recognize submitted participant photos on its social media channels.
The City appreciates all residents and community members who help keep Wisconsin’s Park Place healthy and clean!
