Mackenzie Byrne has had an interest in the dental field since she was a student at Juda High School. With Blackhawk so close to home, it was an easy decision for her to enroll in the Dental Hygiene program, which was launched last fall.
The many opportunities that Blackhawk offers are something that Mackenzie likes most about Blackhawk.
“BTC has many student resources for when we need an extra hand on a certain topic,” she said.
Time management is the most important thing she’s learned in her time here, helping her to stay on top of her homework, projects and exams, she said.
Being able to learn more about the field that she is passionate about is one thing that Mackenzie doesn’t take for granted.
“If it weren’t for Blackhawk starting this program, I wouldn’t be able to excel in my career goals,” she said.
That, along with the many opportunities that Blackhawk has to offer, should be reasons why students should consider Blackhawk. Mackenzie says students shouldn’t be afraid to take a technical college route to reach their goals.
“Just because it’s a smaller school doesn’t mean they don’t have a lot to offer,” she said.
Aiming to graduate in Spring 2024, Mackenzie plans to work as a dental hygienist and start helping the community with their oral health needs.
