The City of Janesville will host a Police Chief Candidate Community Reception on Tuesday, November 28, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Janesville Performing Arts Center Gallery Theater (408 S. Main St.). Attendees will have the chance to ask questions, discuss topics of interest, and provide feedback on the candidates.
In alphabetical order, the two finalist candidates are Patrick Hoey, former Chief of Police for the Village of Carpentersville, Illinois, and Chad Pearson, Acting Police Chief for the City of Janesville.
- Mr. Hoey most recently served as Chief of Police for the Village of Carpentersville, Illinois, from 2021 to 2023. His professional background includes time as the Chief of Police in South Beloit, Illinois, and Assistant Deputy Chief of Police in Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Hoey graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement Administration and additionally holds an associate degree from Rock Valley College. He also has certificates from the University of Virginia and Northern Illinois University.
- Mr. Pearson is the Acting Police Chief of the Janesville Police Department and has been the Deputy Chief of Operations since 2022. He joined the agency in 1997 and has also served as a Sergeant and Lieutenant during his time with the department. Mr. Pearson has a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He is a graduate of the FBI National Law Enforcement Academy and the UW-Madison Command College.
