The Janesville Fire Department (JFD) and Janesville Police Department (JPD) have announced that they will be hosting a Child Safety Seat Inspection event on Thursday, January 11th. This event aims to ensure the safety of Janesville's youngest residents by providing certified child safety seat technicians who will inspect and correct improperly installed child safety seats.

According to the announcement, the event will take place at Fire Station #1, located at 303 Milton Ave., from 2 to 6 p.m. Several technicians from the JFD and JPD will be available to check child safety seats during the event. Each inspection is expected to take approximately 30 minutes and will be provided free of charge. However, the JFD and JPD will accept donations to help fund the operating costs of the inspection program.

Parents are encouraged to make inspection appointments in order to help limit program wait times. Additionally, the JFD will have safety seats available for those who may need to obtain a new one if their current seat is found to be unsafe. To schedule an appointment or for more information, parents can contact the JFD at (608) 921-3786 or visit their website at https://bit.ly/3T6NDEv.

In a statement, the organizers emphasized the importance of properly installed child safety seats. "The safety of our children is our top priority," said a representative from the JFD. "By ensuring that child safety seats are correctly installed, we can greatly reduce the risk of injuries in the event of an accident."

This Child Safety Seat Inspection event is part of a larger initiative by the JFD and JPD to promote child safety throughout the year. A complete schedule of 2024 inspection events will be made available to the public.

Parents in Janesville are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to have their child safety seats inspected and corrected by certified technicians. By doing so, they can have peace of mind knowing that they are taking the necessary steps to protect their children while on the road.
