City Thanks Deputy Chief Todd Kleisner for Over 32 Years of Service

Deputy Chief Todd Kleisner will officially retire from the Janesville Police Department (JPD) after over 32 years of service to the City of Janesville. Kleisner, who has been with the JPD since August 1991, has held various positions throughout his career, including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Police Sergeant, and Police Lieutenant. In March 2021, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police, overseeing the department's operations division and later the support services division. Kleisner's contributions to the department include developing the Fourth Ward Project and serving as an instructor and chair for various committees.

Acting Chief of Police Chad Pearson praised Kleisner, saying, "Throughout his career, Deputy Chief Kleisner has been the textbook definition of a high-performing, well-rounded officer. His dependability, leadership qualities, and calm demeanor have helped the community traverse taxing situations, and he has always emphasized extending his mentorship to all those he has served alongside."

The City has acknowledged Kleisner's contributions on several occasions, including Chief's Commendation in 2011, the Meritorious Service Citation in 2011, and the Award of Excellence in 2015 and 2022.

In retirement, Kleisner plans to spend more time with his wife and children, as well as pursue his interests in cars and hiking. Reflecting on his career, Kleisner expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help victims of crime, saying, "Making a difference in victims' lives and helping them through the most difficult experiences in their lives has been incredibly rewarding." He also expressed appreciation to the community for their support of the JPD and law enforcement, stating, "I am grateful to the community for their continued support of the JPD and law enforcement, which serves as a testament to our community, our department, and the trust we have built."
