The City of Janesville Recreation Division has announced that it will be offering the Start Smart Sports Development program starting on March 6. The program, which is a nationwide initiative offered through the National Alliance on Youth Sports, aims to prepare children between the ages of 3 and 5 for organized sports in a non-competitive environment.
According to the program description, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to work with their child, the instructor, and other children in a social setting to learn the basic skills of throwing, catching, kicking, and batting. The main focus of the program is to increase individual skill development and help parents understand their child's interests.
The Start Smart Sports Development program will take place on Wednesdays from 6 to 6:45 p.m., starting on March 6 and running until April 17. However, there will be no class held on Wednesday, March 20. The program will be held at an affordable cost of $45.
In order to participate in the program, interested parents and guardians can register online on the City's website or in person at the Recreation Division office in City Hall. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 1.
