The Janesville Fire Department (JFD) and Janesville Police Department (JPD) have announced a Child Safety Seat event scheduled for Thursday, February 8th. The event aims to assist parents and guardians in ensuring the safety of their children while traveling in vehicles.

During the event, certified child safety seat technicians from both departments will be available to inspect and provide instructions on the proper use of safety seats. The event will take place at Fire Station #1, located at 303 Milton Ave, from 8 a.m. to noon.

"The Child Safety Seat program is an important initiative to protect the lives of Janesville's youngest residents," said a spokesperson from the JFD. "Our goal is to educate parents and guardians on the correct usage of safety seats to minimize the risk of injuries during accidents."

The inspections conducted by the technicians will take approximately 30 minutes per seat and are free of charge. However, the JFD and JPD will gratefully accept donations to support the operating costs of the program.

To ensure a smooth process and minimize wait times, parents are encouraged to make an appointment for the inspection. Appointments can be scheduled by contacting the JFD at (608) 921-3786.

In addition to the inspections, the JFD will also have safety seats available for those in need. If a safety seat is found to be unsafe during the inspection, parents will have the convenience of obtaining a new one on-site.

The Child Safety Seat event on February 8th is an excellent opportunity for parents and guardians to ensure that their child's safety seat is properly installed and being used correctly. By taking advantage of this program, families can have peace of mind knowing that they are doing everything possible to protect their children while on the road.

Don't miss this chance to ensure your child's safety. Make an appointment today and join the efforts of the Janesville Fire Department and Janesville Police Department in safeguarding the lives of our youngest community members.
