The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has recognized the City of Janesville for its exceptional financial reporting practices by awarding them the Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) Award for the City's 2022 PAFR. This marks the second consecutive year that the City has received this prestigious award from the GFOA.
A PAFR serves as a user-friendly companion to the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, presenting financial information in a format that is easily understandable to a wide audience. The City of Janesville began publishing a PAFR in 2015 for the 2014 calendar year, with the City Manager's Office leading the preparation process with support from the Finance Office staff.
In a statement, the City expressed gratitude towards the Finance Office and City Manager's Office staff for their efforts in creating a high-quality PAFR that caught the attention of the GFOA. The City's commitment to transparency and accountability is reflected in its decision to voluntarily produce a PAFR, despite not being mandated to do so.
