The City of Janesville is gearing up for a significant project that will see the painting of around 248 fire hydrants in the community. The process, set to commence on April 17, will involve the meticulous removal of old paint through a technique akin to sandblasting. Following this, each fire hydrant will be thoroughly cleaned down to the metal before being coated with white epoxy primer and finally receiving a fresh coat of yellow paint.
According to an undisclosed source, the focus of this year's initiative will revolve around the streets resurfacing that took place in 2023 and any additional areas that may require attention. The entire painting endeavor is estimated to be finalized within a span of approximately two weeks.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to reach out to the City of Janesville Water Utility at (608) 755-3115 for any queries or further information regarding this upcoming program.
