Janesville residents are reminded that from May 6 to May 10, 2024, the city will be conducting its annual collection of bagged yard waste and bundled brush. The announcement was made that the yard waste and brush would be picked up on the same day as the regular garbage collection.
Size limitations have been specified to ensure that the bundles of brush can fit into the collection trucks. The City advises residents to place their bags and bundles at the curb by 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection day. Additionally, residents are urged to avoid placing bags on the curb if rain is forecasted prior to the pickup day.
In efforts to maintain a clean and eco-friendly environment, the City no longer accepts yard waste in plastic bags and emphasizes the importance of adhering to the guidelines regarding the size and weight of the bags and bundles.
Furthermore, residents are reminded that burning yard waste within the Janesville city limits is prohibited. Alternative disposal options for yard waste include mulching or leaving grass clippings on the lawn, home composting, or utilizing the City Compost Site exclusively for Janesville residents. For a fee, residents can also deliver stumps, brush, branches, roots, and shrubs to the demolition landfill.
