On the evening of Saturday, June 22, an EF-2 tornado touched down on the south side of the City of Janesville. With peak wind gusts of 115 miles per hour, this weather event caused considerable damage to structures and infrastructure in the impacted areas.

City crews have completed their first round of collecting residential tree and brush debris in the initial priority response areas. They will be performing additional curbside collection based on the schedule below for the week of July 8:

- Tripp Rd. Zone – Monday, July 8

- Secretariat Dr. Zone – Tuesday, July 9

- West of Center Ave. Zone – Wednesday, July 10

- East of Center Ave. Zone – Thursday, July 11

The City will not pick up structural debris, treated lumber, pieces of fence, or other solid waste as part of its response efforts. Residents with this type of debris may visit the City's Sanitary Landfill. The facility's hours of operation and list of accepted materials are available at janesvillewi.gov/landfill. To aid in timely removal, the City is asking residents to continue to bring tree and brush debris to the Compost Site as they can; hours for that facility are available at janesvillewi.gov/compost.

Residents needing removal assistance should place tree and brush debris on the public right-of-way near their roadway. City crews will not remove tree and brush debris from yards outside the public right-of-way. Residents are encouraged to leave four to eight-foot-long branches to facilitate collection.

Residents in the collection area should park off-street during this time to enable safe and effective operations.

Trash and recycling operations will continue as regularly scheduled. However, some ancillary City services will be delayed during storm response.

Residents can find additional information on available resources at janesvillewi.gov/news.
