For the first time since 2019, the Janesville Water Utility's general service rates will increase by 4.1 percent, as will the Public Fire Protection and Main Replacement (if applicable).

The effect of the increase for some selected customers is shown below:

Customer Classification | Meter Size | Cubic Feet | Existing Quarterly Rate | Revised Quarterly Rate

---|---|---|---|---

Average Residential | 5/8 | 1,500 | $48.55 | $50.54

Large Residential | 3/4 | 2,400 | $78.88 | $82.14

Commercial | 1" | 19,500 | $518.10 | $539.67

Public Authority | 1 1/2" | 30,000 | $789.00 | $821.85

Industrial | 2" | 60,000 | $1,527.00|$1590.58

The water rate increase accounts for inflationary expenditure increases and provides supplementary resources for the Water Utility’s capital improvement program. This program ensures the City’s water infrastructure continues to be well-planned, maintained, dependable, and sustainable.

Janesville Water Utility anticipates that this rate increase will go into effect on September 1, 2024.

For questions about the rate increase, contact the Janesville Water Utility at (608) 755-3115.
