On the evening of Saturday, June 22, an EF-2 tornado touched down on the south side of the City of Janesville. With peak wind gusts of 115 miles per hour, this weather event caused considerable damage to structures and infrastructure in the impacted areas.

City crews have completed tree and brush collection efforts in the priority areas and will be moving to a weekly tree and brush debris pickup every Wednesday through July 31. Residents in need of debris pickup should contact the City Services Center at (608) 755-3110 by July 30 to arrange for pickup.

Residents needing removal assistance should place tree and brush debris on the public right-of-way of their yard near the roadway. City crews will not remove tree and brush debris from yards outside the public right-of-way. Residents are encouraged to leave four to eight-foot-long branches to facilitate collection.

Residents in the collection area should park off-street during this time to enable safe and effective operations.

The City will not pick up structural debris or other solid waste as part of its response efforts. Residents with this type of debris may visit the City's Sanitary Landfill. The facility's hours of operation and list of accepted materials are available at janesvillewi.gov/landfill. To aid in timely removal, the City is asking residents to continue bringing tree and brush debris to the Compost Site as they can; hours for that facility are available at janesvillewi.gov/compost.

Trash and recycling operations will continue as regularly scheduled. However, some ancillary city services will be delayed during storm response.

For more information, contact the City Services Center at (608) 755-3110.
