FOIA Request to Town of Washington Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and public accountability, we at the Southern Wisconsin Times have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Washington in Wisconsin. This request, made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., seeks access to a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
We believe that access to such information is essential for comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As a media organization, we play a crucial role in disseminating information to the public and holding public institutions accountable.
In our request, we have also sought a fee waiver as a media professional involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. We eagerly await the response from the Town of Washington and remain committed to providing our readers with transparent and timely information about their local government's activities.
