A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Brooklyn in Wisconsin regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Southern Wisconsin Times have requested a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024. This request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for an electronic format.
As members of the media, we are deeply involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as media professionals disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver. We will continue our pursuit of transparency and accountability in local government affairs and look forward to sharing our findings with you.
