On February 5, 2025, Representatives Bryan Steil and Dusty Johnson introduced a House Resolution to support blockchain technology and digital assets. The resolution aims to address the current regulatory gap affecting developers in this field.
Representative Steil, who chairs the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Artificial Intelligence, stated: “Digital Assets have significant unrealized potential. I am excited to join Congressman Dusty Johnson in formally recognizing the need for Congress to take meaningful action to build a regulatory environment that fosters innovation, protects consumers from fraud, and encourages the development of digital asset technology in the United States.”
Dusty Johnson, Chairman of the House Committee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development, highlighted the uncertainty developers face due to existing regulatory gaps. He expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Representative Steil: “Currently, developers are faced with uncertainty because of a gap in the regulatory framework for commodities and securities. Digital assets need a regulatory framework to thrive in America. I look forward to working with Rep. Steil to bring clarity to digital assets.”
The resolution's text is available publicly for review. Congressman Steil's subcommittee is set to hold its first hearing titled “A Golden Age of Digital Assets: Charting a Path Forward” on February 11 at 2:30 PM.
