Congressman Bryan Steil has collaborated with Majority Whip Tom Emmer to introduce the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act. This legislation aims to prevent government officials from issuing Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) directly to individuals. Congressman Steil emphasized the importance of financial privacy and independence, stating, "Financial privacy and independence is the bedrock of America’s financial system.” He expressed concerns that government-mandated CBDCs could lead to digital tracking and overregulation, infringing on Americans' rights. Steil remarked, “Government mandated CBDCs provide an opening for government digital tracking and overregulation that would violate the rights of Americans." He also highlighted his pride in supporting this legislative effort alongside Emmer, noting its alignment with President Trump's recent Executive Order.
