The Rock County Sheriff's Office has announced the schedule for its first Hunter Safety Education Course of 2025. The course will take place at the Edgerton Conservation Club, located at 900 Stoughton Road, Edgerton, Wisconsin. It is set to occur over three sessions: March 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., April 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Sheriff Curtis N. Fell emphasized the importance of this course for those born on or after January 1, 1973, as it is a legal requirement for hunting in Wisconsin. Participants must be at least 12 years old or turn 12 shortly after completing the class.
The course requires attendance at all sessions for graduation. Registration is currently open, and interested individuals can reserve their spot by completing an online enrollment form available on the Rock County website. Class size is limited to thirty students.
A fee of $10 per student will be collected during the first session, where students will also receive their course materials. If a student is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must accompany them to the initial session.
Deputy Trevor Lund from the Recreational Safety Bureau is available for any inquiries regarding the course and can be reached via email at trevor.lund@co.rock.wi.us.
