Steil has represented Wisconsin’s First Congressional District since his initial election in 2018. He won re-election against Randy Bryce in 2018 with 54.6% of the vote, defeated Roger Polack in 2020 with nearly 60%, overcame Ann Roe in 2022 with just over half the votes cast, and most recently prevailed over Peter Barca in the 2024 general election by securing approximately 54% of ballots.
