The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced the closure of the Center Avenue Bridge over the Rock River as part of the US 51/Center Avenue reconstruction project. The bridge will be closed for two days, starting at 4:00 a.m. on June 26 and reopening at 3:00 p.m. on June 27, to allow for the proper curing time of a new concrete overlay. The closure is subject to weather conditions and may be rescheduled to June 27-28 if necessary.

The bridge closure will also affect several JTS bus routes from Center Ave., Rockport Rd., to W. Delavan Dr., necessitating detours for routes including the 6: BJE Inbound & Outbound, 2: Kellogg Inbound, and 9: Nightside West.

Affected JTS Bus Routes beginning at Center/Delavan include:

- Route 6: BJE Inbound will follow W. Delavan Dr., S. Jackson St., McKinley St.

- Route 2: Kellogg Inbound will follow W. Delavan Dr., S. Jackson St., Riverside St., Lincoln St., Rockport Rd., S. Jackson St., McKinley St.

- Route 9: Nightside West will follow W. Delavan Dr., S. Jackson St., W. Milwaukee St., W. Court St.

Routes affected beginning at the Transfer Center include:

- Route 6: BJE Outbound (from Transit Center) will follow River St., W. Racine St., S. Jackson St., W. Delavan Dr., Center Ave.

Several bus stops will also be temporarily closed:

- Route 2: Kellogg Ave.: Stop #246 Rockport/Linn closed; alternate stop #247 Rockport/Lincoln.

- Route 6: BJE Inbound: All stops on Academy & Linn closed; alternate stops on Jackson between Rockport/McKinley upon request.

- Route 9: Nightside West: All stops on Academy & Linn closed; alternate stop #325 Milwaukee/Academy.

- Route 6: BJE Outbound: All stops on Academy & Linn closed; alternate Downtown Transfer Center at River Street.
