A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Albany in Wisconsin on November 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Southern Wisconsin Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these records is crucial.
As members of the media, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records such as these is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
