The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration has announced a grant of up to $931,500 for the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. The funding, provided through the Veterans Cemetery Grants Program, will be used to improve several areas at the cemetery, including the cortege assembly area, roads, parking, flag assembly area, and landscaping. The cemetery serves over 420,000 veterans and their eligible family members in the region.

Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) commented on the announcement: "The sacrifices our veterans and service members make can never be taken for granted. It's critical to ensure we are properly honoring our fallen heroes and their families. I'm grateful to see the Trump Administration announce this grant for veterans in Wisconsin."

Steil has previously co-introduced legislation aimed at increasing federal funding access for veterans' cemeteries.

Bryan Steil has maintained his seat by winning multiple general elections against various opponents since 2018.
