City of Janesville issued the following announcement on Oct. 28
Do you enjoy Janesville's many parks and recreation opportunities? Want to give back or pay it forward for future generations to enjoy? Leave a lasting gift to the community through a newly created charitable fund.
The City of Janesville Parks and Recreation Divisions are proud to announce the establishment of the Parks and Recreation Legacy Fund.
Established through the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin (CSFW), the fund's purpose is to receive and accept donations from community members interested in supporting the City of Janesville park, playground, and recreation facilities. It will also assist related beautification, maintenance, construction upgrades, uses, purposes, and programming that serve our community. With the support of donors who are inspired to leave a lasting legacy in the community, the fund serves as an endowment for on-going community parks and recreation projects.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has made it even more clear the importance of health, wellness, physical activity, parks and places for recreation and play,” said City of Janesville Recreation Direction Shelley Slapak. “Your generous gift will assist the City in efforts to improve facilities, parks, and programs that bring people together and create community.”
Individuals interested in donating to the new fund may visit csfw.org, click the donate button, and search Janesville Parks and Recreation Legacy Fund or utilize the fund’s direct link. Donors may give funds for general public parks and recreation projects or independent funds may be created for specific projects or programs. Contact the CFSW Donor Services Representative, Deedra Williams, for more information.
The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin serves to match charitable donors with the needs of communities in nine southern Wisconsin counties, including Rock, Walworth, Crawford, Iowa, Lafayette, Green, Grant, Sauk, and Vernon. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with assets in excess of $75 million.
