Beloit College issued the following announcement on Nov. 27
Free throws were the difference Saturday as the Buccaneers fell to Manchester University 75-69 in a non-conference matchup in Flood Arena. Beloit was just 8-16 from the charity stripe while the Spartans dropped in 23 of their 27 chances from the line.
The game was a back-and-forth affair with 10 lead changes along the way. Manchester owned the first quarter while Beloit took the second to head into the break with a 30-29 advantage. The Bucs led by as much as seven late in the third before Manchester scored the last four of the period and the first six of the fourth to reclaim the lead 57-54.
Elizabeth Kalk, already registering a fantastic game, took over midway through the fourth. She hit Christy Melton for a layin to cut the deficit to one, followed with a steal, an offensive rebound and a putback all in less than a minute to swing the lead back in Beloit's favor, 58-57 with five minutes to go.
The lead changed again on the Spartans' layup with 4:35 left and then a pair of free throws and an old-fashioned three-point play extended Manchester's lead to six with just over three minutes to play. The Spartans sealed the game at the charity stripe.
Kalk nearly tallied another double-double with a game-high 25 points and eight assists adding four steals. Hannah Welte and Addyson Ciochon dropped in 15 each with Welte grabbing four steals and Ciochon hauling in seven boards. Hadja Bayo shared team-high rebound honors with Ciochon.
