Property Owners Encouraged to Clear Storm Sewer Catch Basins

Sofa

City Of Janesville issued the following announcement on Feb 24.

The City of Janesville is reminding property owners that it is vital for storm sewer catch basins to be clear of ice and snow to allow proper stormwater drainage.

With continued winter weather possibilities and warmer temperatures over the months ahead, localized flooding is more likely to occur when debris obstructs storm sewer catch basins.

The City of Janesville has approximately 7,600 storm sewer catch basins and around 350 miles of paved streets. While City crews attempt to keep catch basins clear, property owners are encouraged to do their part to prevent localized flooding by clearing debris from catch basins in front of their properties and assisting their neighbors in doing the same.

For questions, contact the City Services Center at (608) 755-3110.
