ATLANTA, GA – On July 10, Committee on House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil (WI-01) introduced the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act in Atlanta, GA and led colleagues on the Committee during a Field Hearing to discuss the legislation. Following the hearing, Steil released the following statement:

“The ACE Act is the most conservative election integrity legislation to be considered in the House in a generation. As we saw in Georgia, when you pass strong election integrity legislation that makes it easier to vote and hard to cheat, Americans have more confidence in their elections and voter participation increases. The ACE Act gives states the tools they need to increase voter participation and confidence in our elections. I look forward to bringing this critical legislation to the House Floor.”

Steil was joined by Committee Members Reps. Loudermilk, Bice, Lee, and Carey at the Marietta Diner in Marietta, GA to introduce the ACE Act

Following introduction of the legislation, Steil led the Committee on House Administration during a field hearing at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta, GA. To watch the full hearing, click here.

Background

The American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act is a federalist approach to boost voter confidence and encourage states to implement common-sense election integrity reforms by removing federal policies that stand in their way. Some of the most important provisions include:

  1. Giving state and county election officials access to the Social Security death list so they can keep their voter rolls maintained.
  2. Making it easier for states to use REAL ID to confirm citizenship.
  3. Prohibiting federal funds from going to places that allow non-citizens to vote and stops non-citizens from voting in D.C.
  4. Supporting military voters overseas and ensures their ballots are counted in time.
  5. Protecting free speech and donor privacy.
The Committee on House Administration held 5 hearings as a part of the American Confidence in Elections series, leading up to today’s introduction of the ACE Act.
