WASHINGTON, DC – On July 13, Congressman Bryan Steil released a statement after his amendment to the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act passed the House.
“I’m focused on bringing greater transparency and accountability to our federal government. Americans deserve to know how the Department of Defense is spending Americans’ hard earned tax dollars. My amendment will ensure we have oversight into the assistance we are providing to Ukraine. American taxpayers have a right to know how their dollars are being spent.”
Background:
Steil’s amendment would require the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State to jointly brief relevant committees of weapons the U.S. has committed to sending to Ukraine and to other regional allies who are providing weapons to Ukraine.
