The Janesville Water Utility has been named Wisconsin's Best-Tasting Water by the Wisconsin section of the American Water Works Association. The announcement came on Wednesday, September 13, following a competition that featured water utilities from across the state. Judges blind taste tests ranked samples on criteria that include testing the water samples for taste, smell, and appearance.
"Our team is committed to delivering quality water to Janesville residents," said Utility Director David Botts. "Securing a win for the second time in just five years is a testament to that dedication."
The Janesville Water Utility serves a population of 65,942 through eight groundwater wells and has an average daily pumpage of 9.20 million gallons. The utility works daily to provide a safe, uninterruptible drinking water supply. The water supply is tested continuously to ensure its safety and meets or exceeds all state, local, and federal requirements.
Janesville's tap water will now compete in the American Water Works Association's national competition in Anaheim, California, in June 2024.
