The City of Janesville held a ballot placement drawing at 5:30 p.m. Monday, January 8, in the Council Chambers in City Hall for the three seats open on City Council for this coming spring election. Open to the public, this drawing was witnessed and certified by the Janesville Clerk-Treasurer (Lorena Stottler).
Wisconsin state law requires a drawing of lots to determine the order of the candidates’ names on a ballot. Candidate names will be printed on uniform slips and placed in a box for drawing. The first name drawn will appear first on the ballot, the second name drawn will appear second, and so forth.
The six candidates that have been certified to appear on the ballot of the April 2, 2024 election will appear in the following order:
- Aaron Burdick
- Mathew Gonzalez
- Paul L. Williams
- Larry Squire
- Joshua Erdman
- Billy Ray McCoy
The following upcoming election is the Spring Primary on February 20, 2024. The City Council and School Board elections do not require a primary, but the County Board of Supervisors does.
District 22 and District 27 in Janesville each have three candidates running. The two candidates that receive the most votes in each contest will move forward to the April Spring Election.
The District 22 Candidates (in alphabetical order) are:
- Wes Davis
- Denetta Flamingo
- Michael Schwarz
- Tom Brien
- Spencer Zimmerman
- Billy Ray McCoy
