Representative Bryan Steil of Wisconsin will be heading to the southern border with Speaker Johnson and several Republican colleagues tomorrow. The purpose of their visit is to meet with state and local officials to discuss the current situation at the border and address the failures of the current border policies.
According to Steil, the southern border is not secure and this has resulted in a national security, public health, and humanitarian crisis both at the border and in Wisconsin. In his own words, he stated, "Our southern border is not secure – and it’s creating a real national security, public health, and humanitarian crisis at the border and in Wisconsin." He believes that it is important to hear directly from those on the frontlines and witness firsthand the effects of the Biden administration's failed border policies.
During his visit, Steil will be available for live interviews at the southern border. Journalists who are interested in scheduling an interview can contact Chavonne Ludick at Chavonne.Ludick@mail.house.gov or (608) 530-2107.
This visit to the southern border is an opportunity for Representative Steil and his colleagues to gather information and insights from the officials who are directly dealing with the border situation. By seeing the situation firsthand, they hope to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by border communities and develop effective solutions.
