The Janesville Fire Department (JFD) and Janesville Police Department (JPD) are collaborating to ensure the safety of children in Janesville through a Child Safety Seat program. This initiative provides monthly events where certified child safety seat technicians inspect and educate parents and guardians on proper safety seat use.

According to a statement, "The Child Safety Seat program provides monthly events with certified child safety seat technicians who will inspect and instruct on proper safety seat use." The next event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 14, at Fire Station #1 located at 303 Milton Ave. from 2 to 6 p.m.

During the event, several technicians from the JFD and JPD will be present to check child safety seats. "Each inspection takes approximately 30 minutes and is free of charge; however, the JFD and JPD will accept donations." These donations help cover the operating costs of the inspection program.

To streamline the process, "Parents are encouraged to make an inspection appointment to help limit program wait times." Those interested in scheduling an inspection or seeking additional information can contact the JFD at (608) 921-3786.

The proactive involvement of the JFD and JPD in organizing such events reflects their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Janesville's youngest residents.
